Playboy: Did you know about Playboy in Romania?
Alina Puscau: I actually did a shoot for Playboy in Romania, in lingerie of course! It was last year and I had also done an interview with them about my music.
Playboy: How did you come over to the States?
AP: When I won the Elite modeling contest in Romania, I signed a contract with them and immediately began traveling all over the world. I ended up moving to New York City for work.
Playboy: How did you get started with your singing career?
AP: I was at a friend’s house. She is a professional singer, and she overheard me sing. I used to memorize her songs and sing them to her. She told me that we should do something together and that I should start a career.
Playboy: Tell us about the new album.
AP: I’ve worked really hard on this album. The theme is a mix of all the music I love. It’s an album for all people, with something that everyone can relate to. I wrote most of the songs myself. They are all based on personal moments of mine, but we all share very similar moments like these. It’s all a bit pop, a bit urban and very danceable.
Playboy: What was it like working with Brett Ratner on the video for “When You Leave”?
AP: He’s a great director; I’ve always loved his work! We shot the whole video in his garage over a 24-hour period. It was hard work and both an intense and fantastic experience. It paid off, though. It’s a great video.
Playboy: Yes, yes it is. What song makes you feel sexy in a club?
AP: T.I. And Rihanna’s “Live Your Life” is a track that always gets me dancing in a club!
Playboy: What do you wear when you want to feel sexy?
AP: A corset, pretty much like what you see in the video. Sometimes I wear men’s boxers as well! I’m notorious for stealing my boyfriend’s boxers.
Playboy: What type of man are you attracted to?
AP: A charismatic man, a man who I can really connect with. Chemistry is very important to me, and he must be able to make me laugh. I also appreciate a little belly on my man.
Playboy: How are men in Europe different from men in the States?
AP: American men take their time to build a relationship, European men tend to take things much faster.
Playboy: Do you ever listen to music while having sex?
AP: I have… Sade and Luther Vandross.
Playboy: What’s the craziest thing you’ve ever done?
AP: I had a night out with friends about four years ago. We had a lot of different parties and events to go to, and I was incredibly thirsty. At each event, I would drink a different type of alcohol, and it got a bit crazy. Needless to say, it hurt incredibly bad the next morning.
