Brooke Shields in Shape Magazine (October 2008)

Lipstick Jungle star, the 43-year-old & the mother of two, Brooke Shields is featured in October 2008 issue of Shape Magazine, the fitness mag’s Special Breast Cancer Awareness Month edition. Ever so gorgeous Brooke says she wasn’t feeling confident wearing a skimpy two-piece bikini for the magazine shootout because she wasn’t able to exercise in two months following her bunion surgery.

She was nervous doing a photo shoot for Shape Magazine after she underwent foot surgery in April and has not been able to hit the gym for a couple of months:

“I can’t believe I said I’d do this shoot when I haven’t been able to exercise for almost eight weeks.”

Brooke prepared herself for the surgery by losing some weight in advance:

“Spinning is the only way I ever lose weight,” she says. “It’s purely about keeping my heart rate up and burning calories.”

Brooke was horrified when a dance instructor forced her to watch herself perform in front of a mirror during class to boost her self-confidence:

“I was like: ‘Are you crazy? What if I don’t like what I see?’ I was so tall and never skinny. I just wanted to put my head in the sand and not think about my body.”
