Michelle Obama: Our Life In The White House

Michelle Obama, America’s First Lady covers this week’s issue of People magazine. Inside she talks about family, their first dog and else. Interview snippets in full story!
On asking the White House staff not to do too much: “People want to make your life easy, and when you have small kids – I’ve explained this to the staff – they don’t need their lives to be easy. They’re kids.”
On spending quality time as a family: “We have dinner as a family together every night, and Barack, when he’s not traveling, tucks the girls in. We haven’t had that time together for [years], so that explains a lot why we all feel so good in this space… [But] I don’t want anybody to think it’s that easy. It works because we really work at it. … We have a strong marriage, but it’s not perfect.”
On naming the First Dog: “Oh, the names are really bad. (laughs) You listen and you go – like, I think, Frank was one of them. Frank! Moose was another one of them. Moose. I said, well, what if the dog isn’t a moose? Moose. I’m like, no, come on, let’s work with the names a little bit.”
